How Smart Tags Work
Smart Tags help you automatically identify and categorize the right people in your network, without having to manually review every conversation.
The basics
When you create a Smart Tag, you give it a name and a description of what it represents. For example, you might create a tag for "Interim Management" to track contacts who are relevant to that service area.
From there, the AI takes over.
How the AI finds matches
Once your tag is set up, the AI does two things:
It generates keywords based on your tag and scans your conversations for relevant matches. So if your tag is about Interim Management, it might look for messages that mention "interim", "temporary leadership", "management gap", and similar terms.
It also reviews LinkedIn profiles and other available context to get a fuller picture of each contact.
Based on all of this, it determines which contacts in your network are a good match for the tag.
A few things to keep in mind
Smart Tags are AI-driven, which means they are not 100% perfect. The AI makes its best judgment based on the keywords and context it finds, but it can occasionally miss someone or include a contact that is not quite the right fit.
That is why we recommend using the Preview function before applying a tag. Preview lets you review the suggested matches before anything is saved, so you can get a feel for the quality of the results.
Tips for better results
Be specific when naming and describing your tag. The more context you give, the better the AI can find the right keywords.
Use Preview to test before committing.
If the results are not quite right, try adjusting your tag description and run it again.
