From Playbooks to Smart Tags and Initiatives

Playbooks have been replaced by Smart Tags and Initiatives in Andsend 2.0. Here is what changed and what you need to know.

With Andsend 2.0, Playbooks have been split into two separate tools: Smart Tags and Initiatives. All your contacts, settings, and history have been preserved.

What changed

Playbooks used to combine two things: defining your audience and defining your outreach strategy. In 2.0, those are now separate.

Tags handle the audience. Each of your Playbooks has been automatically converted into a tag with all its contacts assigned. Tags come with built-in keep-in-touch reminders (90-day rhythm by default) and job change detection. You can adjust the rhythm, add smart rules, or remove tags you don't need.

Initiatives handle the outreach strategy. They give you everything Playbooks did, and more. Set goals for your conversations, control how the AI generates messages at each stage, and track contacts as they progress from first touch to outcome. You can convert any of your old Playbooks into an initiative to continue your outreach with a structured workflow.

Why the split

Separating audience from strategy gives you more flexibility. A single group of contacts (defined by a tag) can be used across multiple initiatives. And a single initiative can pull in contacts from different tags. You are no longer locked into one strategy per group.

Getting started

  1. Check your Smart Tags to see your migrated Playbook contacts and adjust the keep-in-touch rhythm if needed.

  2. Create a new initiative for your next outreach goal, or convert an existing Playbook into one.

  3. Add the relevant tagged contacts and start working through the stages.
